Roadtrip Southwest Texas

Hi, time for an update.

Since my parents were here over the last two weeks, we did quite some traveling around southwest Texas and a little bit of Mexico and New Mexico. It felt good to see them after almost 10 month.
Here is a brief itinerary of our 5 day road trip Day 1 we spent in San Antonio before we took off to the boarder. We went to Mexcio at Eagle Pass and Del Rio, were we spent the second night. On day 3 we drove to Big Bend NP were the temperatures were insanely hot. 112 degrees. The highlight of the day was a closed gas station. We came there driving already on E and the gas station was surprisingly out of power. After waiting 20 min they closed, so we were forced to make it to the next one. We luckily made it, due to driving on neutral downhill most of the time. The NP itself is astonishing, go there if you have a chance. Next day we drove into New Mexico to visit the Carlsbad Caverns NP, the largest caverns in the western hemisphere. I felt like in Lord of the Rings, without the fenced path you definitely would get lost down there. To give you an idea, its as large as 4 airplanes. On our last day we visted White Sands NP and El Paso. Once again we went across the boarder where we went to a market. On Tuesday we went back to Austin just stopping at Fredericksburg for a german lunch. Yammie, they serve good food at the Ausländerbiergarten.

Now Im back in Austin, my parents are gone and I gotta deal with an OZI ;-) More about that next time.

Wall of Flame

On Tuesday we went to Pluckers with a bunch of people of my tennis class. It was Steffen's idea to defeat 25 of the fire hot wings to get a picture on "the wall of flame". Surprinsingly there was no wait as we showed up around 9 pm. The waiter was already amazed when taking our order. He answered the question whether he had ever done it or not with: "Of course not, I like my mouth." The first wings went down quiet easy, but after a while more and more ranch and ice tea was necessary to "lindern" the furious hot taste. Everyone else had finshed as we just reached half time while sweating all over the face. Sinnce Steffen had the lead through the first ten he fell behind and was done with 9 wing left. However, he was lucky that there was no more film for camera as otherwise his picture would have been posted at "the wall of shame". The last 5 to 7 wings are just so hard to eat. Not only cuz they are tremendously hot, you are just getting full at one point. Anyways, a little while later I was done. Of course I was happy that I made it but mainly because I now know I have never to try it again. What a relieve. So Steffen, for your next try you gotta a find someone else :-) Full as hell and ready to kill some buckets of beer we all went next door to Cain & Abels.

Springbreak Cancun, Mexico 12.03. - 19.03

Hi,

I know its been a while, since this blog was updated last. But I have been a little buisy lately, but finally I gotta get it done.

The Arrival:
Well, Cancun, it was one of the funniest weeks I have had in my life so far. Do believe all the stories yall here about Springbreak cuz it is ablolutely crazy. Having seen some crazyness back in Austin, this was times 10 or more. So most probably the stories are true. Flo and I arrived Sunday via Mexico City and checked in at night. Our hotel truned out to be quite nice and perfectly located next to the Fat Tuesday(free beer), where all those funny contests were going on all the time.
First thing that night, we were desperatly looking for some food. We finally found some buritos after beeing stopped every 10 meters cuz of Flos hair. Everybody was trying to sell him all kinds of different drugs. We met up with some people we met on the bus earlier and had kind of a slow night. (At least when we are takling in Cancun dimensions).

Monday:

As we had free drinks in different locations every day from noon till 9pm, we decided to get up early for breakfast. Until we realized that breakfast is not included for us, we had to pay 11 bucks each. From now on we just skipped breakfast and started the day with lunch. Having a 2 dollar mircowave pizza from Minimart next door.
We also went to downtown Cancun to shop for survival supplies (Tequila, Salt, Limes, Rum...) in WalMart.
Back in the Hotel we haded over next door to FatTuesday for a couple of beers at the beach. They had a clothe change competition which was fun as hell. We countinued for more free drink in different places. While I went to party at Fat Tuesday, for Flo the night ended early at 8.30 pm, after our last station for free drinks at Dady Rocks.

Tuesday:
Pizza for late breakfast after noon. Free drinks at FT, today they had a slap my ass competition. At night free drinks at Congo and then off to the City. 40$ open bar. The largest nightclub I have ever been to. Built in an arena style with 3 spinning dacefloors and a lot of different shows. Crowded as hell, maybe 4000 people in there. For a few bucks extra we had
table right a one of the dancefloors.

Wednesday:

We went to check out one of the shopping centers and the mayan ruines. Was a good non alcoholic alternative. Later on that night, dancing at corona bar. Frist Flo managed to get us open bar, before he was cut off drinks around 1.30. He left pissed as hell, somehow he arrived at the hotel only 30 minutes earlier than me. Next day he told me, he tried to walk home ;-)))

Thursday:
Lunch as always. We finally spend some time at our lovely beach, playing some Volleyball. Did not do much that night cuz we had to get up early for the Pyramids next day.

Friday:
Our to Chitzen Itza started at 7 am. We went to one of the most attractiv pyramides of the mayas. It was quite hot and around noon we got roasted while exploring the site. The day was quite interesting, but since you are not allowed to climb the pyramids anymore, the flair was a bit missing.
We spend the night bar hopping, with some guys and girls we met randomly at Congos.

Saturday:

The last day, and you cant believe that a week flies by so fast. We went with some other Germans and an Australian for our final free drinks to FT, where a suck my baby bottle empty game was on.
At night we went to Congos, Dady Rocks and Dady O's. Flo stayed there, and I took of one german dude to Ultra Lounge, where I knew the DJ from the bus ride home the night before. Quite funny cuz I couldnt remember his name or something. Luckly he still recognized me. So we went in there and it turned out that all the Playboy ladies who where supposed to be on stage later on next door, were in there. So guess what, we had a lot of fun and free drinks.
I finally came home hat 5am, had to get my stuff together, catch an hour of sleep before the shuttle to the airport was supposed to leave at 7am.

Sunday:
Wow, you cant imagine how exhausted I felt checking in that plane. I definitely need holiday from the holiday. Maybe thats why it took quite a while to get this online. We flew back to Houston, where Dino picked us up at the airport and gave us ride home. Thanks once more!!!
