A long Saturday

Hi,

there were many different things sheduled for this saturday. I started watching German Bundesliga at 9 am with a strong coffee in my hands. Right after the game was out I met with Thomas and we both went to the Longhorns game vs. Texas Tech. Jim introduced us to tailgaiting. Thats just amazing, a thing we should definately set up before soccer matches back home im Germany. Parking lots a rented to crazy fans who set up the lots for barbequeuing and drinking. Wearing a UT shirt is the rule to get the whole lot for free. So we spent almost two hours there lingering around. Those who dont have tickets stay there to watch the game on one of the many TVs.

The game started at 2.30 pm and was sold hold (Attendance over 80000). Somehow we landed in the first row and then just decided not to give up those seats for the whole four hour game. It was fun and good action as the game final was 52:17.

I went to a Volleyball game afterwards and was back at the apartment at 10 pm, just in time, to get ready for 2 birthday parties. As there is nothing much to write about parties, I give you the pics.....

...Mid terms are over...Hooters...6th street...

Hi,

the header is a pretty good summary of last night. I had my last exam in the afternoon. Afterwards I went to the pool straight away for the first beers. Realized our Hot Tub finally has been repaired (after 1,5 moth, good job C.E.).
For dinner I met with Rob and Alli and we went to Hooters, a restaurant in which you not go for the food, but for the nice small dressed waiters. Actually the wings were pretty good to. We had a few jugs of Dos XX as well.

On 6th street we said hi to the library, the aquarium, spills ... Its just hard to remember them all. We also met with Linda to celebrate her birthday.
I ended up, smashing my head on the ground when we decided to do some piggybacking on the way home. In addition Alli couldnt remember where he parked the car and therefore, we searched the streets for a while. Can tell you it was one of the funniest night I had so far.
Well, this morning I woke up with a bump on the back of my head. Its still hurting a litte, but nothing dramatic.

Apartment Party

Hi guys this will be just a very small update.
I have been pretty buisy the last week. Next week, some mid term exams and papers will be due. The work usually is not as hard as in Germany. As therefore it quiet a lot, it simply just has to be done.
On Monday Thomas girlfriend Steffi arrived beeing ready for the big surpise. At the end the surprise almost came out, as I was on my to pick her up from the airport, when Thomas suddenly showed up at my apartment. However, he didnt believe my roommated, who had just told him the truth.
I didnt do much during the week. Except for Wednesday, where I saw the UTs girls volleyball team playing, I stayed pretty much home.

Then yesturday there was party at another aparment. So I had a fun night there. Rob had organized a DJ, two kegs and some Jugle Juice and I guess thats all you need. So well done, thanks for that. AND here are some pics...

Hula Hut

Since Ellen was returning to Europe on Tuesday, we went to a nice place at Lake Austin called Hula Hut. Its pretty cool sitting there at the lake enjoying a meal meanwhile the sun is setting down. I had some peppers filled with chicken, Ellen picked chicken enchilladas and of course we ordered magaritas. Its definitely a place to recommend. While waiting at the bus stop, we met some frogs...

South Padre Island

HI,

on Thursday we(Flo, Alex, Ellen and I) decided to rent a car and go down to south padre island the next
day. South Padre is pretty close to the mexican boarder and a 6 hour american highway drive away. Like the world works today, it seriously was cheaper to book the car in Germany. So we rented a Dodge Neon for three full days. The hardest thing is probably to stay awake while driving. No seriously, as soon as youre out of the city center, driving gets so boaring. Roads are heading straight for miles and miles. You set the cruise control and there is really nothing to do. You dont even have to steer.
Had some impressive US experience right after the start. For instance a drive through bank. Lazy americans, arent they?

We arrived at the best western at 6 pm. The sun was just setting down and fishes were jumping out of the marina next to us.
We spend to cool days at the beach, got badly sunburnt, played volleyball and relaxt. From time to time it was hard to breath. We have been told thats because of some algeas in the water. We although did a lot of shopping. Because its the end of the season everything was deeply discounted. For dinner we went to the islands brewery and later had some beers at a waterfront bar.
On Sunday it only rain
ed for seconds, enough to get us of the beach and back into the stores. In the evening we drove back to Austin.
