Austin City Limits

Hey this sunday we have been to Austin City Limits or ACL. It a really big music festival with hunderts of bands performing on stage.
Sunday was one of the hottest days ever, so we decide not to go there before 4pm, even we had all day passes. We definitly did right. As we arrived it was still hot as hell. We met Alex and Flo at the artifical beach and had a stroll over the areal. We listened to some good bands playing, but like everybody else, it was just Colplay you are waiting.
They entered stage arond 8.30pm. It was a fantastic one and a half hour concert in front of almost 60000 people. Yes you read right. Sixty Thousand People.
Its the largest concert I have ever been to. Just incredible.
As you can imagine, getting there is not the problem, but try to figure out what happens if 60000 people want to leave at the same time. We avoided the free bus shuttles and instead went to the taxi line. But it still took some time to get home.
Here are some more pics. Till next time .....

San Antonio

Dispite Hurricane "Rita" we (Flo, Ellen and myself) visited San Antonio on Friday. We took the Greyhound to get there. For me it was the second time to Sanan. Before spending hours shopping at the Riverside mall, we quick visited the Alamo. Lateron we roamed up and down the riverwalk. Like two weeks ago, Dicks was the place for dinner. I had a couple of "Big Ass Beerglasses" other had huge cans of Miller lite. We drank a last beer in a pub called Pat o Brians and then headed back to the bus station.
We finally got home around midnight. In brief I would say: A very cool day trip, but pretty exhausting after a hard partied night on sixth before.

****HURRICANE NEWS****
For all who worried, we, and whole Austin with us, are fine. Hours before "Rita" hit land it dropped down to a catregory 3 hurrican. It addition it drifted east. Thus, Galveston and Houston were not hit directly. Over here in Austin we didnt even get a single drop of rain. Only some gas stations ran out of petrol. Plus water and torches were sold out at most places.

Alamo Drafthouse + 6th Street

Hi,

we have been to Alamo Drafthouse this Thursday. Its so awesome sitting there having a beer while watching a movie. Feels just like good old Germany. We saw "Just like heaven" which was allright. Afterwards we caught a taxi and went t
o 6th street. We started at the library had a couple of dollar beers and wells. Later Rob and Daniel joined us. The Aquarium is just next door offering dollar drinks as well. Well, of course we went there for some time.
Next stop: Spills! Thomas and Daniel´s favorite dance club. A place where the girls go crazy on stage, showing everything they have and some getting nude until not much is left. If you really wanna know how much they like this place, ask them about "Hat Tricks".

Ellen and me left for Spiros. Brandon was working and we had a couple of cheap drinks before the 2am bell rang.
Then somehow for certain people the watch ran twice as fast as normal and we were left behind. Unfortunately there was no EBus running that night cuz th
e drivers where on strike, so we grabed a cab to get home.

Addendum

Hi,

here a two pics that have arrived lately. They have been taken back in August on a party, where persons got LOST in the complex not knowing how to get back to their apartment and other funny things happened. Later that night we have been to the pool. Unfortunatly (or luckyly) no more pics are existing after that point as the camera fell into water.

Well, just take these two. Markus

Reunion

Hi,

I have been for two days in Houston to meet Ellen. We met at Hobby Airport and were very happy to see each other again after two month. We spend two days in a Motel6 close to the Airport, before we decided to leave a day early because there is really nothing to see in Houston. Downtown was packed with Lousiana/New Orleans refugees and the number 1 attraction NASA Space Center is out of reach without a car.
Again arrving at the Greyhound Bus Station was a pain in ... So once again smelly people all over, quiet a few carrying around their last belongings in a plastic bags. Luckyly we left after a hour and after another three we arrived in Austin.

So there is really nothing more to report about this field trip. Till the next one.

San Antonio & Corpus Christi

So here it is: The big one. While watching the US Open Semi Finals there should be enough time to finish. On Thursday Thomas and I left Austin for 4 days. We first spent 2 nights in San Antonio before heading down south to coastal Corpus Christi for another two. For me the start was pretty stressfull because I had class until 4.45pm and the coach was sheduled for 6.50pm. In between I had to return home in rush hour traffic, get my bag and then ride to the Greyhound bus station in north Ausin. The ride normally not longer than 20 minutes, but again in rush hour seemed to take forever. My roommate Kevin gave us the lift. Thanks for that. Well, finally we made it just in time and tell you what. If you ever ride Greyhound expect it to be very cold. Thomas was lucky because he brought a sweater and even socks while I was freezing my ass off and later getting of the bus as an ice cube.

In SA we had booked a Super8 Motel quite close to downtown. Arriving there I set up a small mini bar in our sink to
get ready to party downtown. We called a taxi and got really lucky cuz the driver was awesome. Here´s the story:
We wanted to go to club we found in the internet before. Well, our driver somehow got lost in the streets and suddenly stopped in the center of a crossing pulling out a huge flashlight to spot the streetnames. That fact was just sooo funny. Finally we arrived at the club and it wasnt crowded at all. We decided to have a couple of cheap two dollar vodka drinks in there and see whats going on. Nothing much, except our cab driver walking in the club to ask us whether we really wanted to stay in here. So he was waiting for us all outside the door the whole time and after we finished the another drink we went out and got a FREE ride downtown because he forgot to turn the meter on. So he drove us to coyote ugly bar with all these crazy going dancing grils. And even there he returned after 15 minutes to ask if thats better now or not. ;-) Just awesome.

After that we continued to Rive a nice club with 4 areas and Dollar drinks. At 2.30am the club closed and Thomas started making friends ....

Next day we did a small city tour. Here a some impressions. Alamo, Riversidemall.

And then have a look what cute ladies drive big cars over here.

An awesome thing about SA is the riverwalk. We have been there during day and night time. It is fantastic to see and sit in all those little restaurants next to the very small river. We, for example, had dinner at Dicks with a buddy we met at the Super8. Danny is an airforce pilot and told us some interesting stories. Hopefully one day he flies into Austin.

Also we met two girls who showed us around a couple of clubs that night. We have been to Mad Dogs, Poly Esters and so on. At one club at least the got german size drinks.

The next day we left for Corpus. As we havent had a hotel booked yet we first ran into a cafe to acess the web. Luckily we found a cheap motel at corpus christi´s beachfront. We spend relaxing two days at the beach throwing the rugby ball from time to time. At night we went out to party again, but this time not as hard as in SA.
The next pics show us, our motel in fency pink, the beach, our favorite place for dinner Pier 99, a nightclub and finally Thomas headcarrying a pitcher to beome taller.

Well, on Monday night we took the Greyhound back to Austin. After a 5 hour ride Daniel picked us up and gave a ride back to our apartment. And that´s it.

Hope you had some fun reading. Here ist a last one of a freaky restroom in a bar.
